The Story of Our Gud
Our Desi Gud begins with sugarcane juice. As the juice is heated and concentrated, it develops into the rich sweetness we know as gud. Once cooled and set, it becomes ready to break, grate, melt and enjoy in your favourite recipes.
We make our gud directly from sugarcane juice. This is the starting point of its flavour and the centre of our product story.
Gud brings a deeper flavour to food, with warm, caramel-like notes that work beautifully in traditional sweets, chutneys and everyday cooking.
Break it into pieces, grate it into a recipe or dissolve it into a syrup. Bring a familiar ingredient into both treasured family recipes and new ideas.
From Cane to Gud
Making sugarcane jaggery means concentrating the juice and allowing it to cool and set. Here is the journey from sugarcane to the gud in your kitchen.
Sugarcane is crushed to extract its juice, which forms the base for making our Desi Gud.
The extracted juice is strained to separate pieces of cane fibre before further processing.
The juice is heated so that water evaporates. As it concentrates, the juice thickens into a sweet, dense syrup.
Once the required consistency is reached, the concentrated mixture is allowed to cool and set into gud.
The set gud is portioned and packed, ready to be stored and used in your everyday recipes.
Get to Know Your Gud
Sugarcane jaggery has its own character. Colour and texture can vary between batches; colour alone does not establish purity or quality.
Jaggery can range from golden brown to deeper brown shades, depending on the cane and processing conditions.
Its warm, caramel-like flavour adds character as well as sweetness to traditional and contemporary recipes.
Break or grate the gud for your recipe. It can also be dissolved in a little warm water when a syrup is needed.
Everyday Inspiration
Bring the distinctive taste of gud into recipes you already love.
Use in til laddoos, chikki, sweet rice and other recipes that call for jaggery.

Stir a little into warm oats, dalia or breakfast recipes, adjusting the quantity to taste.
Add to recipes that need a sweet finish, from regional dals to homemade dressings.
Care for Your Gud
Jaggery can absorb moisture from the air. Store it carefully and always follow the instructions and best-before date printed on your pack.
A Few Useful Answers
Our Desi Gud is made directly from sugarcane juice. Refer to the ingredient declaration on your pack for the complete product composition.
The sugarcane and processing conditions can influence the final colour. A darker or lighter shade alone is not proof of purity or quality.
Break it into smaller pieces or grate the amount you need. For recipes that use a syrup, dissolve it in a little warm water and follow the recipe.
Gud changes flavour, colour and moisture, so it is not always a direct replacement. Start with recipes designed for jaggery, especially when baking or making sweets.
